New Year’s Trip

January 3rd

Fresh off of my trip to Germany, Justin picked me up at the airport wearing a navy blue suit with red roses in hand. Of course, as the forever-matching couple that we are, I was wearing the mink coat he gave me for Christmas. Together we both probably looked insane, or expensive, or both.
After the long 9-hour flight, all I wanted was a hot shower and some relaxation. Once we got to the hotel and got comfortable, we got some Chinese takeout and talked about our busy plans for the next day.

January 4th

Our plans for the day were busy but planned to be a sentimental start to both of our New Year’s. First, we went to the Fernbank Museum which had 2 stories covering Georgia’s natural history. Since the weather was gloomy, and a little too cold, we didn’t do the outdoor trails as planned. But we went through each of the natural history rooms - my personal favorite being the history and science behind shells!

After The Fernbank Museum. we stopped at Cafe Intermezzo, which is where Justin first said I love you (intentionally). We sat there for hours drinking coffee and reading the newspaper until it was time to drive to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. I had been there once before, and I was hoping that the entire park would be open for us to explore. It sadly wasn’t, but we took some cute photos and got to experience the rainforest greenhouse at night with the croaking coquito frogs. It was a cute event to close out our first day together before we headed to our AirBnB in Augusta that night.

January 10th - 18th

After the first few days of school had begun, Justin and I decided to do a little picnic in Pendleton King Park with some homemade sandwiches and our book that we were buddy reading together. It was a little cold but at least the ducks got fed!

Every morning when I had class, Justin would drop me off and yell from the car window that he loves me, and I still imagine him doing it when we’re apart and I walk to class alone. We baked cookies and had the most romantic spaghetti dinner night with wine and cookies and a cozy movie night.

We got sick not long after my sister’s birthday, so for a week were out of commission and clutching our electrolyte drinks. Luckily, just as Justin’s birthday was approaching, he was starting to feel better!

January 19-20th

Let the pre-birthday celebrations commence!!

I got a charcuterie board from my friend who makes them, with the intention of doing a movie night the night before his birthday so he can relax and be ready for the busy birthday.

On the 20th I planned a brunch in North Augusta, baking his birthday cake, and then doing a pottery class before dinner at Abel Brown.

Jan 21st - 28th

As we neared the end of the trip, we had a few cozy days in filled with us cooking together and binge watching 90 Day Fiancé. On the 24th, we went to my dad’s 50th birthday dinner. The rest of the weekend was surrounded by family. To close out the end of the trip, we went to an Augusta Wrestling night - which was crazy but quite entertaining, coming from someone who was never into wrestling.
